Financial transparency is fundamental to the development and then retainment of public trust. VerifiNZ operates with total financial independence to ensure our fact checking remains independent from political or commercial influence.
Current Financial Structure:
- VerifiNZ is currently 100% self-funded by its founders, and is open to funding from small-scale community donations
- We do NOT receive financial backing from any governmental agency, corporate entity or political organisation
The Editorial Firewall:
- We maintain a strict separation from financial donations and editorial decision-making.
- No donor, sponsor, or financial contributors will ever have, gain or force insight to, influence of or control over our topic selections, investigations and outcomes.
Prohibited Funding Sources
- To avoid any conflicts of interests, VerifiNZ strictly refuses funding and financial contributions from any of the following;
- political parties, active politicians, ministers, government organisations, registered political groups, lobbyists, unions, retired politicians and any international political influence .
Donation Transparency
- VerifiNZ acceptance of ALL donations will be recorded in an internal donations record, and we commit to disclosing identities of any individual or organisation whose cumulative financial support exceeds $1,000 in a single calendar year.
